Mortgage brokers: meetings, files, borrowers

You drive from one meeting to the next, often to people's homes. Those kilometres are deductible, and they get lost because nobody keeps a paper log while driving.

Meetings and borrower files, with the mortgage calculator kept.

The one profile that keeps the calculator

The mortgage profile turns off MLS, listings, open houses, the buyer portal and prospecting — but keeps the mortgage calculator, with current insurance premiums. That is your trade, not one more real estate module.

The profile table is not a list of removals: each trade keeps what belongs to it.

Your words

The interface says meeting, file and borrower. Not "showing", "listing" and "buyer". The vocabulary is all or nothing — never half translated, because an interface that is half real estate and half mortgage is more confusing than a neutral one.

What you get at year end

A CRA logbook with the date, starting point, destination, distance and purpose of every drive. PDF for the file, Excel for your accountant.

Expenses follow the same path: receipt photo, taxes split out, T2125 categories — meals and entertainment, motor vehicle, other.

What never changes

Whatever the profile, the engine is the same: automatic start detection, GPS jump filtering, offline operation, overnight road matching, and seven years of trip retention — the period the CRA requires for supporting records.

Raw GPS points, by contrast, are deleted after 120 days at the latest. What is kept long-term is the summarised trip, not your minute-by-minute trace.
